Remy hair extensions
While Remy hair extensions are made of human hair, all human hair extensions aren’t Remy. Remy refers to the hair that has the cuticle layer still intact. Healthy hair has the cuticle layer still intact, making it soft, luscious, and tangle free. Remy hair extensions are good quality and more affordable.
Remy hair is also collected from multiple donors with the same hair type and texture. This hair also has been processed several times for cleaning and coloring so it is not recommended to change the color of your remy hair extensions. Remy hair has a 3-6 month life span when taken care of properly.

Virgin hair extensions
Virgin hair extensions means “untouched” hair. Hair that hasn’t been dyed, permed, bleached, or processed in any way. Virgin hair must meet stringent standards to maintain its quality. This hair quality comes from a single donor and the cuticles are running in the same direction, preserving its smoothness and consistent color and texture. Virgin hair extensions, with proper care, can last from 6-12 months and can be colored.
Non-Remy hair extensions
Non-Remy hair is natural hair as well, but the hair isn’t in optimal condition. The cuticles are stripped or run in both directions, which means the roots and tips are mixed up. This contributes to tangling. Non-Remy hair goes through a harsher prepping process, reducing the life of the hair extensions.
Non-Remy hair extensions are cheap, and the price reflects in the quality. These types of hair extensions come from various donors, and sometimes can come from hair left over in hair brushes. This hair quality may only last you 1 month.
